i’m fading into
not what you think
not disappearing
becoming
the light slowly consumes
every piece of what was left
until memory softens
at the edges
i find my doubts
inside the closet
where your clothes once hung
now it stands empty
cleaner than i remember
only shadows remain
and even they
have stopped speaking
we find time
inside the ways
we used to talk
the conversations at the doorway
the hesitation before goodbye
the whispers that filled
ordinary evenings
my virtues still sing there
quietly
through walls that remember
more than they should
we favor certain memories
holding them carefully
turning them over
looking for reasons
to understand why
some voices remain forever
while others disappear
before we notice they’re gone
some people
we carry gently
others
we hold so tightly
they become part of us
and i speak into
these closets now
because somehow
they feel freer than before
emptiness has a strange way
of making room
for things that were always there
i visit these spaces
watching spiders travel
from corner to corner
building homes
inside places
i once believed were abandoned
and maybe that’s what healing is
not forgetting
just allowing something new
to quietly move in
i make this
i create this
i allow myself to feel this
the strange sensation
that something beautiful
is closer than it has ever been
not because i’ve found it
but because i’ve finally
stopped running from myself
and maybe time
was never as cruel
as i believed it to be
maybe it was only waiting
for me to become
someone capable
of walking forward
