darkness does not frighten me
for those who consume it
know it arrives from everywhere
we find chaos in breathing
in the mist of our voices
the fog gathering between us at night
the way silence grows
when words become too heavy to carry
the briskness of yours
still lingers here
i leave us in this moment
the frozen escalation of what we became
the things we tried to mend
but only learned to circle around
i twine myself through your footsteps
the touch
your arms
crossing through mine
like wind moving through darkness
unable to stay still
to escape into whatever we called this
i find myself here
permanently returning
touching the waters of bliss
the tears beneath our song
the one you never even heard
the one i carried alone
through rooms and seasons
long after the music stopped
we touch these things together
the moon at night
amber beneath streetlights
how cameras always turn it blue
how memory changes color too
until we no longer know
what truly happened
and what we wished had happened instead
the makers of our moments
the architects of small collisions
the reasons we still revisit places
long after we’ve left them
and this is why
i leave you here
at the edge of where we should stop
where longing becomes memory
and memory becomes something softer
where i find a strange kind of bliss
inside the resentment
inside the beauty
inside all the things we could not keep
let’s leave it here
before time reaches for it
before memory reshapes it again
before we forget
that even broken things
can glow for a while in the dark
