lying exhausted, phone in hand
trying to understand no man’s land
i wither, shiver in the night
sitting alight, i strive
take fire, i kindle for warmth
mark my notes, try to take hold
i grasp, feel hands, warm sunlight
but burn to crisp under moonlight
darkness takes toll
hopping on coal, dodging black holes
i lust and give control
as i stroll, feel to know
black for enrolling
tear for your soul
i lose, you win, but in the end
i comprehend and you transcend
without ever understanding
